Southeast Asia graduation trip: Siam Reap Beng Mealea Temple Silk Farm (5)

Wednesday we left the hotel at 8am for Beng Mealea temple (ruins). It felt like a wild adventure jungle gym. We stopped by the query from where the big block rocks where chiseled and floated down the canals on bamboo. We had lunch in town at Khmer Kitchen, walked around a bit and took a tuk tuk back to the hotel where we chilled at the pool. At 4pm Masa and I went to a silk farm - fascinating and beautiful textiles. We bought a handmade grey/silver silk dress for graduation.

Silk farm
47 day life cycle
7 day old worms
Silk worms 24 days, bring in leaves
Then yellow
1 cocoon = 400 meters
Inner, more fine
Boil water, 80 release string
Natural color yellow in Cambodia, need to dye it to make it permanent, soda 2 hrs to make it white.

Lovely sunset sky on the way back to the hotel. Masa tried some local meat skewers. In the evening we went to a semi local bar and back to town for dinner at Red Piano. I had delicious Lok Lak with a pepper sauce.
